World-Class Mineral Springs

The Healing Waters

When the ancient Romans discovered these remarkable springs in the 6th century AD, they named this place “Medeca” (from “Medicus” – medicinal) – the only town in the entire Roman Empire with this healing designation. At 36.4°C, these waters perfectly match human body temperature, creating a seamless therapeutic embrace between nature and body. With their unique mineral composition, Varshets’ springs have earned their place among the world’s Top 20 mineral waters.

Experience these healing waters through immersive hydrotherapy in our pools, underwater massage, or drink directly from the source as generations have done before you. The springs work their magic from both outside and within, with drinking particularly beneficial for digestive, liver, and gallbladder conditions.

Which health conditions can experience healing benefits:

  • Recovery after stroke and heart attack
  • Cerebral palsy
  • Hypertension and heart disease
  • Peripheral nervous system conditions

The region is famous for its sweet strawberries and raspberries, grown on small plots by local families following traditional farming methods. Local beekeepers produce some of Bulgaria’s finest organic honey, each jar capturing the essence of mountain wildflowers and forest herbs.

The spiritual heart of the community beats through the beautiful St. George Church with its living Orthodox traditions, while just 12km away, the 13th-century Klisurski Monastery—Bulgaria’s fourth largest—invites visitors to explore its twin churches, mesmerizing frescoes, and the healing spring (ayazmo) believed to possess miraculous properties.
